My name is Jody (…not short for anything). I own a home in Virginia Beach, where I currently live with the felines. I was born (October 1970) and raised in Western Massachusetts. That’s why I now live in Virginia Beach (cold, winter, snow, small, etc…). There have been two consistent themes throughout my life: music and computers. I’m currently fascinated by Social Networking/Media, with an emphasis right now on microblogging…..my favorites sites being Brightkite, Facebook, and Twitter. I love listening to Static-X at extreme volume levels, which is why I don’t hear quite as well as I probably should. Bands I used to be in and a fondness for playing guitar very loudly contributed. I’m positive that the Blackberry Curve is the best thing I’ve owned and probably won’t be seen without it.
I’m the Marketing Director for a real estate team, The Brian Duncan Group, that services the Hampton Roads area of southeast Virginia, including Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton and Newport News, among other areas. We maintain over 20 proprietary, custom designed websites and always have additional projects in development.
In the distant past I made a few web stores (see InAnyCase.com), and I just started this blog back up. We’ll see how long it lasts. FYI…”Fresh Amounts” is taken from the Beastie Boys song “So What’cha Want”.
In the more recent past I was the Business Manager for The King Realtor Group. In our best (and final) year, we ended up the #1 agents at Long and Foster Real Estate for our entire region. 91 transactions and $28 million in sales. Our team leader and namesake decided to retire from Real Estate, so in January of 2008 I took some time to figure out what I really wanted to do.
My current projects revolve around getting our own systems organized in Real Estate which included partnering up with Inside Sales Agents/Outside Sales Agents, Admin staff, etc. I’m still technically a Real Estate Agent, but I’ve always been a strong proponent of the idea that I’ll only be successful if I truly enjoy what I’m doing, and that’s marketing. It’s a challenge, and I love it.
Additionally, social networking is becoming increasingly important in all of our lives, in both a professional and personal way. Finding new ways to incorporate it all in a successful way is rewarding on many levels.

So that’s about it…email me at jcowdrey at gmail dot com…or join up on Brightkite or Twitter.
